Block, do your feel your IQ drop every day or does it just happen without you realising?

An idiotic thread from an ill-informed moron could do without being published whether it's about West Ham or not.

Re: Ben Johnson
You're right Block. Johnson has done little to show that he's anywhere near being a first choice anything. And Noble come to that.

Moyes keeps showing his limitations whenever facing tough opponents.

Last time I checked, this was a website where WEST HAM was discussed, Gank?

Are we now not allowed to discuss things related to West Ham?

Re: Ben Johnson
"Unpopular opinion "

That goes without saying, it will always be unpopular if it's your opinion. Last week you didn't even know Johnson's position and this week he's not good enough to play for us?

Keep your half-witted opinions to yourself and then you wouldn't have to worry about their popularity.

Re: Ben Johnson
In my view if Fredericks had been available then Johnson would not have started. Looking at the bench and considering Moyes’s set up Johnson was the obvious available option.

Wrong, as usual.

You could have put Creswell as LWB and put Balbuena in the center.

Hopefully Johnson will become a useful squad member but if we have aspirations of regular top eight finishes we need to improve our squad considerably.

Re: Ben Johnson
Block I agree with you that it was the way to go but the modern view is that by showing him inside he is running in to bodies who can help snuff out the threat rather than be exposed to a 1on 1 and a potential cross.

As I say depends on how the team is instructed.

Block 2:58 Mon Mar 15
Re: Ben Johnson
OH - Most wide attacking players play on the opposite sides to their strongest foot, meaning they cut inside, regardless of this though one of the very first lessons in defending is that you show your man outside instead of towards goal. It's a no fucking brainer.

Re: Ben Johnson
You can’t criticise him for showing players inside without knowing if it is team tactics to do that.

Re: Ben Johnson
Griffin, I did mention this on the other thread not too long ago.

But after last nights performance, where he couldn't pass the ball to anyone on his team, allowing players to drift off the back of him (shaw done this a few times) and constantly show his player INSIDE, it appears he lacks the basic attributes to succeed.

Keep your eye out for young Baptiste. My spies tell me he could be the next big player out of the academy.
Afoyalan who is on loan at Bolton seems to think he's on his way out of West Ham as his contract is up in the summer. Abubeko disappointed all of us when he got his chance recently.

But let's leave Moyes and the coaches to decide Johnson's future. He looks a useful player, just needs more experience.

Re: Ben Johnson
If you were to write a book called ‘how to blood a young player in the premier league’, I’m pretty sure it would say the exact opposite of only starting them in games against the best teams in the league, and be sure to play them out of position every time.

Iron Duke 2:25 Mon Mar 15
Re: Ben Johnson
I don’t think he’s a bad player.

The one bad habit that I’ve noticed is him often playing blind balls and giving the ball away, rather than trying to keep the ball and maybe draw the foul or win a throw. Is that because he’s had some bad injuries? Even so, half heartedness will get him injured just as easily.

I think we need to work with him more in training and he could become an asset.

Re: Ben Johnson
Still has plenty of time and has shown promise enough for me.

He'll gain experience and I think he'll come good in time. So long as we don't get back into the stadium and hound him out.

Re: Ben Johnson
I always assumed that Johnson was naturally right footed but could also play with his left, hence filing in at LB. Last night when he switched to the right in the second half he seemed to be predominately left footed.... all very confusing, what is he?

If he can play with either foot then obviously that's very useful but it doesn't look that way on the evidence of last night.

dealcanvey 1:57 Mon Mar 15
Re: Ben Johnson
Hard to judge him really. The majority of games he plays is when Moyes morphs into Fat Sam mk II whenever we play one of the top sides. Not only does he only play then but it is when we are set up negatively and he is out of position.

El Scorchio 1:54 Mon Mar 15
Re: Ben Johnson
I'd rather we stopped quaking in our boots at the prospect of playing another team in the top 6 and just carried on playing our natural game with 4 at the back, which is what got us to 5th in the first place.

Then there's no worry about playing people out of position or only fielding two or three attacking players in the line up.

You don't see the likes of Leicester, Everton or Villa shitting the bed and going ultra defensive when playing a 'big' club. There's no excuse for us to be doing it.

Re: Ben Johnson
Personally, I'd rather we put Balbuena in the left side of the back 3, and have Cresswell as LWB in those situations.

Re: Ben Johnson
Johnson had a very good game against Brighton a couple of months ago and was touted by some for MOTM. But in the last couple of games he has looked very nervous on the ball and some of his passing has been very poor. He's still young and learning, so I would think a loan to a Championship club next season might be a very good idea.

Btw, Masuaku is expected to be back after the international break.
